DNX 1 Power Arm makes a mark in Japan

The Japanese Tennis Magazine"Tennis Journal" has published a big article in the September 2006 issue, introducing the new DNX 1 Power Arm.

The author of the Article, MR. TAKASHI MATSUO first saw the racquet at this year’s French Open in May in Paris. Upon his return to Japan, he contacted the Völkl Tennis representative, Mr. Sumitaka Nakazaki, to inquire about this new frame construction. Intrigued by the Power Arm, he started listing to the theory behind the free-floating yoke piece. And when the time came to play-test the racquet, he was even more surprised and has dedicated two full pages in the upcoming issue, describing the technology along with his impressions. Mr. MATSUO is a racquet specialist and is responsible for writing about the newest Tennis industry for the largest Japanese Tennis Magazine "Tennis Journal". In the upcoming September issue, he is featuring the new DNX 1 Power Arm. Intrigued by the design and construction; Mr. Matsuo explains the
benefits and advantages of the Power Arm Technology. “More Power you can feel when you play Tennis.” “Power Arm is only possible with the new DNX material and adds power to your game.”

Great Feed-back for this unique frame construction. This article will surely have a positive influence on the introduction into the Japanese Tennis Market. The DNX 1 is for real and receiving great feedback around the world.

Get a ‘Grip’ would ya’?

Seasoned ATP veteran Martin Damm – who in 2006 is playing in his 17th professional season, recently turned 34-years old – he is currently #11 in this weeks ATP Doubles rankings.

Damm who has in the past couple of years concentrated only on playing doubles, was once ranked as high as #42 in singles, (1997) and his current doubles ranking of #11, is getting close to his career-high of #8, (2002). Martin Damm has been playing with the DNX 10 MP since the Australian Open 2006.

Martin recently placed a call to Volkl with a specific request;

“Please…can I get some of those white Volkl grips!? It has been so hot & humid these past weeks here in the USA - I am having trouble holding onto my racquet. The sweat has been so bad and my “Tourna-Grip” (brand) grips just don’t allow me the grip security I need. So I borrowed a few of the Völkl ‘white’ grips from Radek, (Stepanek) and they are fantastic! Who would have thought!? Gosh, I have used Tourna-Grip for longer then I can remember…I guess I should have tested these Völkl grips long ago! So I’m out of those that I borrowed from Radek and I must have more! They absorb the moisture better then anything, the extra ‘tacky-feel’ seems to last forever – I simply love these ‘white’ grips!”

Martin…of course my friend - they are on the way!

Best of success to you and your partner as you make your assault on the 2006 US Open Doubles trophy!

How about the rest of you!? Isn’t it time to take a serious look at the top-quality accessories Völkl Tennis has to offer?

We don’t just stop with making the best tennis racquets…our accessories of strings, grips, and bags are all equal in the quality demanded to be the best – if not, the name; Völkl Tennis would not be found on any of these products.

We are Völkl – and yea’, we really are Tennis.

US Tennis Magazine likes the new DNX 1 Power Arm

The US Open Issue of Tennis Magazine has just hit news stands this week in the US. If you have not yet had the opportunity to read the reviews, the DNX 1 Power Arm received a very positive review.

DNX 1 Power Arm:

Sales Pitch: A unique, separate T-shaped piece in the throat of the racquet moves with the strings to provide added power and comfort for beginners and intermediates.

Compare To: Catapult 1 Gen II

How it Tested: Upon first glance, you might think that the DNX 1 with Power Arm is a gimmick that's trying to impress with an unusual appearance. But there's a purpose behind the design. The Power Arm moves back in conjunction with the string bed upon impact, causing a pocketing effect, and catapults the ball forward like a slingshot. DNX material (an ultra light and strong graphite on the Arm, and anywhere you see silver) makes the Power Arm very stiff, but it has to be to provide stability. The results are a huge sweet spot that extends to balls hit down by the throat, and limited twisting when you miss the mark. The vibration dampener adds comfort, but it can come loose and flap around. Some play-testers found the big, thick frame not conducive to produce topspin, which created a few control issues from the baseline. But players with shorter swings who favor flat or slice strokes should have more success.

Bottom Line: The stick delivers on its promise of power and stability, and should be a welcome addition to the club doubles circuit.

BB Retro Court serves up new Styles

Boris Becker supplements his first sports and lifestyle collection with new outfits in a timeless “black & white” look.

Munich, July 2006 – The successful launch of BB Retro Court last autumn has encouraged Boris Becker to add to the collection: the fashion-fan and tennis star is expanding his first men’s clothing line with a “black & white collection”.

bb_logo

Subtle colours such as “Mocca”, “Off-White” and “Dark-Ink” already set the tone of the BB Retro Court line and are now joined by the new sports and lifestyle outfits in an eye-catching puristic look of black and white. “We have decided on these colours because they are both classic and fashionable. It means the new outfits are even easier to combine and offer suitable apparel for a wide variety of occasions. And that’s just the way I wanted it: fashion you can look good in, and not just on the tennis court”, says the former professional tennis player and current shareholder of the VÖLKL Tennis GmbH.

The collection elegantly plays with elements drawn from sports and menswear. Seams in contrasting colours are to be found just as much as the classic pin-stripe. Complementing the look of the entire BB Retro Court line, the “black & white collection” is also reminiscent of baseball and cricket outfits. The broad range of sweaters, polo shirts, shorts, trousers and jackets means that the new collection offers numerous alternatives for the fashion conscious with a penchant for classic sporting lifestyle. The “black & white collection” will be available in retail outlets in autumn 2006.

Dominika making waves with the new DNX 6 ATTIVA

We just got off the telephone with Dominika Cibulkova – she was ecstatic to say the least. She is in the Finals of the WTA tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia.

To get to the Finals, Dominika was victorious over the #79 WTA player and second seed Morigami in the semi finals. Looks like Dominika’s current #398 WTA ranking will improve greatly after the fantastic result this week ... and she is just 16-years old. The future clearly belongs to her.

Dominica has recently switched from her DNX V1 to the all new DNX 6 ATTIVA. A racquet specifically designed for ambitious female tennis players that merges functionality with performance & design. The DNX 6 Attiva will be at your local retailer this summer ....

European Racquet Stringer Association (ERSA) tests Völkl V-Rex string

Read the testing report from the most critical Test Team in the Tennis Industry. See what ERSA has to say about Völkl Tennis’ high-tech monofilament string V-REX:

Performance on court
“According to our play-testers, Völkl V-Rex receives the highest marks in Control, in Resistance to Movement, and in the Durability categories. In Control, Resistance to Movement, and for Durability, V-Rex came out in the top 5 of all the strings we’ve ever tested, with 20 of our play-testers also saying that V-Rex has better or much better durability than other strings of similar gage. Our play-testers think V-Rex is above average in Spin potential, Holding Tension, and in Power.

Conclusion
“V-Rex is a solid monofilament string that offers great Durability, Control, and Resistance to string movement. Almost every tester said they would add it to their sortiment because they found it highly superior to a normal polyester string in tension loss and a little more forgiving to the arm.“

Testwinner DNX 3

Testwinner

The german Tennis Magazin has just tested several racquets for recreation players. The winner is: DNX 3
Following the comments of the tester.

“The engineers of Volkl Tennis mobilised many things: Big Grommets (increase the size of the sweet spot for a less faulty game), Catapult Technology (more power and control) and a new material. It's called DNX and it is 25 times stronger than regular carbon fibers. The result: You can play very fast and you have an astonishing good control on the racquet. Probably it is the result of the perfect balance. And the big advantage: Not only recreation players but also good technicians will play the DNX 3 with pleasure.”
